Gone are the days when hair loss was a problem that could ruin your social life and self-esteem. Over the last couple of decades, hair restoration techniques have evolved beyond most people’s expectations.
Now, both men and women experiencing hair loss have plenty of options to solve their problem; NeoGraft® hair restoration is one of them.
What is NeoGraft®?
NeoGraft® is a hair restoration procedure that does not require the use of a scalpel, incisions or staples. It utilizes the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique to restore and grow hair unlike any procedure previously used by professionals in the industry.
FUE is a procedure in which a patient’s hair follicles are removed from one area of the scalp and implanted into areas of the scalp where the hair is either thinning or gone altogether. This can restore a patient’s hairline to its former shape and aide in the growth of new hair.
How FUE Hair Replacement is Performed
During this unique hair replacement procedure, a tiny device is used to remove the hair follicles of the patient. This instrument contains a microscopic tool that moves around the hair follicles.
The hair follicles are then removed with an instrument that is similar to a pair of tweezers. The hair follicles are then preserved and conditioned to make sure they are in the best condition possible to be implanted into the patient’s scalp.
There is commonly more than one hair in a single follicle. These are called follicular units, and there are usually one to four hairs in them.
The follicular units are arranged by the specialist in such a way as to fit into specific areas of the patient’s scalp depending on the number of hair follicles.
This takes great expertise and acute attention to detail. It’s the way in which these hair units are placed and implanted that gives the patient’s hairline and formerly balding areas a natural appearance.
Patients will normally have their hair trimmed very short to give the specialist better access to the hair follicle units. However, patients do not need to worry because they will soon have a full head of hair that looks and feels as natural as it can get.
The Healing and Growth Process
The marks that have been made around the hair follicles will usually heal in just a matter of a few days. Although the patient feels the sensations associated with the procedure, it is not reported to be uncomfortable at all.
There has been no need to administer any medications to reduce the level of discomfort. Hair will begin to grow normally after healing has taken place. This usually takes about three months.
After about six months or so, the patient should start to notice a fuller head of hair and a restored hairline. The hair will continue to grow normally, and the results are permanent.
