What is RF Microneedling?
Radio-Frequency Microneedling, or RF Microneedling, combines microneedling and radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin's surface and improve texture issues due to acne scars and hyperpigmentation. RF microneedling is commonly known by the many popular brand names associated with devices that deliver these treatments, including:
- Morpheus8
- ProfoundRF RF
- Pixel8 RF
- DermaPro
What makes RF microneedling so popular is that, unlike lasers that use light energy, this is suitable for most skin types anywhere on the body, any time of the year. Additionally, RF microneedling is a good option if you are not ready for surgical treatment to:
- Minimize the common signs of aging
- Firm up the skin
- Improve tone and pigmentation
What is RF Microneedling?
RF microneedling uses ultrafine needles to create microscopic injuries, stimulating your body’s natural healing response and building new collagen & elastin for a smoother complexion and healthier skin. This treatment requires no incisions and minimal downtime compared to traditional facelift surgery.
How Many RF Microneedling Treatments Do You Need?
For optimal results, you’ll likely need multiple RF microneedling treatments. Most patients notice significant improvements within three treatments, but treating deeper acne scarring may require up to six. Treatments are best delivered at four to six-week intervals.
Treatment generally lasts for one hour. However, the amount of time spent on each session depends on the following factors:
- The size of the treatment site
- Penetration depth
- The number of passes necessary for your aesthetic needs
How Does Hormone Pellet Therapy Work?
Bioidentical hormone pellet therapy helps restore hormones because they naturally have the same chemical composition in your body. This helps slow the aging process and reduces common complaints associated with low hormone levels.
The pellets are made from bioidentical hormones compressed into a small implant. They steadily release hormones as the body needs them, keeping their levels balanced and consistent. Once the pellet has fully dissolved, Dr. Hamawy can easily insert another into your upper buttocks. The treatment is safe and FDA-approved, with few side effects compared to other forms of hormone replacement therapy.
How Long Before I See Visible Results With RF Microneedling?
Your skin can look slightly red for up to three days which you can easily cover with cosmetics. Because this treatment stimulates your body to produce collagen and elastin, you should see initial results about six weeks after treatment. Optimal results appear approximately twelve weeks after the last treatment.
While RF microneedling can produce noticeable results and is touted as a non-surgical facelift, these results are usually less dramatic than those made with plastic surgery. Less invasive treatments like RF Microneedling have considerably less downtime with quickly visible results; however, surgical procedures such as face and neck lifts offer more dramatic results that last longer.
Side Effects of RF Microneedling
Most patients experience minimal side effects with RF microneedling, such as temporary redness and discomfort. Some patients may also experience a minimal amount of bruising. Before treatment, we will determine whether you are a safe candidate who will benefit from this treatment and provide you with detailed instructions on what to expect.
